Bug Lighthouse Portland Maine by Debra Martz It was a cloudy, windy, and rather cold day but that atmosphere added to the overall mood of this image of Bug Light aka South Portland Breakwater Light. The lighthouse was originally built in 1855, as a wooden structure, replaced with a classical iron structure in 1875. The light was fully restored in 1989 and was reactivated in 2002. It appears as a private aid to navigation in the US Coast Guard Light List as South Portland Breakwater Light. Construction of the fortress in the distance was started around 1858. By the time it was finished in 1864, the manner in which it was built was obsolete. ©Debra Martz, All Rights Reserved

Whale Tale in Purple Dusk

I knew it was going to be a good morning when we arrived at Cape Byron Lighthouse 20 minutes before sunrise and the clouds already looked like this! It was incredible luck getting such a good sky on my first sunrise visit to the lighthouse as well.

The overcast sky lit up in gorgeous blue tones well before sunrise at Redcliffe Jetty. Taken as part of the Queensland Instameet world record attempt.

AUSSIE MAP HYAMS BEACH

I captured the reference photo for Moonta Jetty while standing on the jetty of Moonta Bay. The green waters contrasted with the rustic wood of the jetty. You can imagine standing on the jetty casting a line or being mesmerised by the water below.

Waves doing what they do best...the wave. This was from an amazing morning at Snapper Rocks when the sun rose in just the right spot to be caught in the splash of the waves as they came crashing in to shore.

Gardena is a suburb generally characterized as being part of the South Bay -- although it's not actually located along the short of the Santa Monica Bay and is further separated from the region by the 405.
