Illinois is a beautiful state but not everyone seems to agree... show them that it always could be worse.

Most of the time we see these fields as a blur in our peripheral vision. The Rural Views series will those scenes you see as you go down the highway but don't have the time to stop and just enjoy the moment. This is a small field in southern Illinois near where I live.

One element of photography that I enjoy a lot is being able to bring home these "Small Gems" that I find along my travels. They allow me to enjoy the moment far beyond what I'm able to physically stay at any given spot. There has been so many times that I have to just keep going on by and even miss them altogether.

This little beauty was found at the base of a tree in Giant City Park in southen Illinois, USA.

What will we be remembered for?
