The epic sci-fi versus classic literature battle that literally EVERYONE has been asking for. Moby Dick VS. Space Pirate Captain Harlock! Herman Melville's White Whale is certainly putting the work of Tochiro (and Leiji Matsumoto) to the test. As an archetypical romantic hero, a space pirate with an individualist philosophy of life, Captain Harlock (キャプテン・ハーロック Kyaputen Hārokku) is a self-made man, having seen the corruption of Earth's government politicians and their self-indulgence as well as the growing threats that many people refuse to acknowledge. He is as noble as he is taciturn, rebellious, stoically fighting against totalitarian regimes, whether they be earth-born or alien.

The character was created by Leiji Matsumoto in 1977 and popularized in the 1978 television series Space Pirate Captain Harlock.

The 1977 space pirate Harlock was the romantic hero, noble and taciturn, from the manga artist Leiji Matsumoto. Here's one of his Jolly Roger (the pirates flag): the 3 teeth version.
