Description: The Sword Coast, also nicknamed the Empty Lands, was the region in western Faerûn that lay along the coast of the Sea of Swords and extended inward into to the vale. The Sword Coast was an expansive tract of wilderness, dotted with independent cities and overrun by bands of monstrous creatures, that some saw as merely a place through which you had to travel in order to reach an actual meaningful destination.
Description: Neverwinter, also known as the City of Skilled Hands and the Jewel of the North, was a bustling, cultured, and cosmopolitan city-state in northwest Faerûn. Neverwinter was regarded by Volo as the most cosmopolitan and civilized city in all of Faerûn. The city was a member in good standing of the Lords' Alliance. Known for its craftsfolk and gardeners, the city's multi-colored-glass lamps, precision water clocks, exquisite jewelry, and magnificent gardens ensured the warm winters were colorful and the summers were rich with fresh fruit.
Description: The Underdark was the enormous system of subterranean caves, caverns, and tunnels located beneath the surface of Abeir-Toril. The Underdark was not one giant cavern under Faerûn, but rather many huge networks of caverns and caves. As a result, it was not always possible to travel from one end of the Underdark to the other.

It was a truly marvelous cosmopolitan city of great culture that attracted the most talented artisans, artists, and scholars from across the Realms, as well as a commercial hub for financial interests along the coast and beyond. It was one of if not the most powerful and influential member-states of the Lords' Alliance, the coalition of nations and city-states that sought to maintain order along the Sword Coast and the North.
Description: The Orsraun Mountains were the largest range of mountains south of the Spine of the World. The Orsrauns made up the majority of Turmish's northwestern border. To the north of them lay Gulthmere Forest, to the south was the Vilhon Reach and to the west was the Shining Plains. A valley through which the Halondar passed separated the Orsrauns from the Aphrunn Mountains.
Description: The Mere of Dead Men was a swampy area located along the Sword Coast North. The name "Mere of Dead Men" referred to the thousands of dwarves, elves, and humans of the Fallen Kingdom who were slain here during the invasion of an orc army. The Mere was located along the Sword Coast on the Sea of Swords between Neverwinter and Waterdeep. The High Road skirted its eastern edges on its way through the foothills of the Sword Mountains to the east. The nearest significant settlement was Leilon to the north.
Description: Baldur's Gate, also called simply the Gate, was the largest metropolis and city-state on the Sword Coast, within the greater Western Heartlands. It was a crowded city of commerce and opportunity, perhaps the most prosperous and influential merchant city on the western coast of Faerûn. Despite its long-standing presence as a neutral power, the leaders of Baldur's Gate were members of the Lords' Alliance of powers in the west.
Description: The Sunset Mountains were a pair of mountain ranges separated by the Far Hills. Together with the Far Hills, they formed a high, almost impenetrable barrier between the Eastern and Western Heartlands, as well as forming the eastern edge of Sunset Vale. These mountains were home to a large number of tribes and humanoids. Some dwarven clans also lived in this region. Many of these dwarves traded in the town of Easting.
Description: Daggerford was a small but consequential town located in the Delimbiyr Vale within the greater Sword Coast. While it was primarily a farming community, and considered by some to be a mere stopover, the town had great ambitions to grow and be seen as an alternative to their northern neighbor of Waterdeep.
Description: The Wood of Sharp Teeth, formerly called the Glimmerwood, was a dense forest south of the River Chionthar, southeast of Baldur's Gate and southwest of Scornubel. It was a wilderness except for Durlag's Tower on the forest's southern edge. Uldoon Trail ran to the south east of the wood.
Description: Mithral Hall was a dwarven stronghold beneath Fourthpeak Mountain in the Frost Hills, part of the Spine of the World. It was one of the best known dwarven strongholds in Faerûn. Originally a mithral mine belonging to Clan Battlehammer, this underground town became a safe haven for various dwarf families and even some persons of other races. Mithral Hall had a long history of tragedy and triumph, and was the making and breaking of countless individuals.

Description: Skullport, also known as the Port of Shadows, was a subterranean city located far below Waterdeep, within the 3rd level of Undermountain known as the Sargauth Level. While rumors of this subterranean domain of villainy persisted throughout the surface world, few of its inhabitants had any knowledge of any points of entry.
Description: The Moonshae Isles were a collection of islands located west of the Sword Coast. Along the coasts, long flat beaches were found. Most lacked sand, and instead comprised pebbles and rocks. Tides were significant among the islands. At low tide, the beaches could be exposed as much as a quarter mile (400 meters) from the waterline. At high tide, the water line could rise up to 10 feet. During storms, the beaches were battered by waves. The coastlines of the islands were dotted with bays and coves, where ships could find a safe harbor from the harsh northern seas.
Description: The Trackless Sea was the name of the ocean due west of the continent of Faerûn. The Trackless Sea ran from the Sea of Swords in the west to Maztica, where it was known as Taylola or the Eastern Ocean, and to Anchorome in the east. The sea also spanned north to the Sea of Moving Ice and south to the peninsula of Chult.
Description: The Whalebones were an archipelago located in the Trackless Sea, located east of Ruathym and north of the Korinn Archipelago. The islands were called the Whalebones because of the whale skeletons that could be found on the islands' beaches. Petty, warmongering kings ruled over the islands, often skirmishing in battles whose causalities rarely exceeded a few dozen. The larger islands were home to massive rocs that were used as mounts by the storm giants of Maelstrom. The islanders paid tribute to the rocs and giants by leaving them food and treasure.
