In the picture, a breathtaking scene unfolds as a majestic tall ship rests peacefully on the tranquil waters of the sea at sunset. The sky is adorned with a tapestry of warm hues, where streaks of golden sunlight blend with shades of fiery orange and red.

I love anything to do with the sea and my usual work involves creating dramatic seascapes and scene of the coast. I wanted a change so started a series of pen & wash watercolour sketches of the Tall Ships and vintage clippers and sailboats. This is the first and I think they would they look great in any nautical setting or for interiors with a seaside theme.

The tall ship 1921 berthed in Marsamxett Harbour next to the town of Sliema pictured on a lovely October morning. The 1921 is owned by Supreme Cruise Line and operates in Maltese waters from Sliema on a regular basis.

What an adventure it would be to sail the ocean on a Tall Ship. I can imagine how amazing it would be to see the sails full of wind and the ship gliding through the water.

The U.S. Brig Niagara was one of nine ships that visited the Fairport Harbor tall ships festival in 2016. It is a replica of the relief flagship of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry. It was one of nine ships used to defeat a British squadron of six vessels during the War of 1812. The Niagara sails the Great Lakes, preserving and interpreting the story of the Battle of Lake Erie, and acting as an ambassador in her capacity as the flagship of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Its home port is in Erie PA.

The tall ship El Galeon Andalucia, a 17th Century Spanish Galleon Replica, was one of nine ships that visited the Fairport Harbor tall ships festival in 2016. This schooner tells the history of Juan Ponce de Leon. I was in awe as I toured the five decks of this amazing tall ship.
