I am a self-taught artist located in Leicestershire, my work is diverse ranging from wildlife to portraits and landscapes. I work with many different media such as watercolour, pastels, coloured pencils and airbrush. I use vibrant colours to their fullest potential. My attention is focused on details in order to captivate the audience and to represent the subject faithfully. When I paint, I understand my reason to be here. A pair of Tawny Owl chicks recently out of the owl box. For most of the day they had been sat apart on different branches of the tree, When I went back the last time they were together. This is the Tawny Frogmouth. An Australian native owl.They represent wisdom and intuition.

Tawny frogmouths, Podargus strigoides, sit upright, completely motionless on branches, with their heads tilted up & eyes usually closed to slits. Their plumage is finely streaked & mottled in grey & brown. They are masters of camouflage. They look just like broken branches. They are not owls, but nightjars. They are widespread throughout Australia. This one was photographed in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia. Canon 500D, Tamron zoom lens.

Found these babies, with their parents, high up in a tree in Belgrave, They were quite curious and happy to watch me.

Surprisingly the Tawny Frogmouth is not an owl. I know! I thought it was too. That's the beauty of painting, you discover not only the curve of a beak or the shape of an eye, you learn a bit about the subject as well.

I was walking through the bush, when all of a sudden a Tawny Frogmouth resolved out the background. In this painting I aim to capture the effective camouflage of this amazing bird.

A fine example of the Tawny Owl. Seldom seen, but often heard in the middle of the night, the tawny owl is responsible for the familiar 'twit' (female) and twooo (male) sound that echoes across the countryside in the still small hours.

I started drawing one daylily in my sketchbook then after a couple of weeks, I decided to make a pattern and sketched a few more in Photoshop, then redrew and colored all in Illustrator to make the pattern.

Black and white animal illustration of a tawny eagle. Drawn using one of my own photographs as reference, this drawing was created by hand using ink pens on Bristol board. Tawny eagles (Aquila rapax) are a large bird of prey found in dry habitats across Africa and Asia, Despite this extensive range they are unfortunately a vulnerable species. These raptors have a very long hooked bill and large brown eyes with tawny brown feathers.
