Tax The Poor Pins and Buttons
Description: Tax the Rich: Tax Breaks for Billionaires — Three poverty stricken Americans sit on worn steps, their tired faces framed by the glaring contrast of a society built to feed the rich and tax the poor. Their presence is a silent rebellion against the policymakers who gut social programs while granting tax breaks to billionaires and absolving their crimes. Once workers, dreamers, and builders, they are now casualties of an economic war waged by the privileged. The words above them, “FEED THE RICH TAX THE POOR,” are both lament and prophecy—warning of a system that, left unchecked, will collapse under the weight of its own greed.
Description: Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez attended last week’s Met Gala wearing a dress emblazoned with the slogan, “Tax the Rich.” It’s certainly catchier than what would have been a more appropriate slogan: “This Event Is a Tax Loophole for the Rich.” Intended to attract attention from her fellow celebrity guests as well as the mainstream media, AOC’s dress instead became a focal point for the ire of the right. Conservatives argued it was hypocritical to mingle with the economic elite while denouncing them. AOC suggested that the criticism is an example of American culture being “deeply disdainful and unsupportive of women, especially women of color and working class women.”

Description: Shut Up Donnie: Let Them Eat Cake — The image presents a striking reinterpretation of the Statue of Liberty, now seated on an imposing throne, grasping wads of cash instead of her traditional symbols of freedom. Scattered bills and coins litter the ground beneath her. Above, the phrase "LET THEM EAT CAKE" looms—a sharp reference to aristocratic detachment from the struggles of ordinary people. The scene encapsulates a critique of unchecked wealth and power, where the ideals of liberty are seemingly overshadowed by greed. Given current events, it resonates as a powerful visual indictment of economic disparity and systemic privilege.
