El Lugar de Papá (Papa's Place) opened their doors in 1936 in the town of Mezcala, in Jalisco, Mexico, and has been going strong ever since. Originally just a bar where locals and those passing through town could enjoy the region's finest tequilas, Papa eventually added a small kitchen, and began offering an array of traditional tacos and other small plate menu items. Even though Papa's sons and later, grandsons took over the business, it has always remained Papa's Place, so if you find yourself passing through Mezcala, don't miss an opportunity to check out the oldest continuously operating bar in all of Jalisco.
