The pied triller (Lalage nigra) is a species of bird in the family Campephagidae. It is found in Brunei, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. This bird is a type of insectivorous bird that has a habitat in agricultural land, open lowlands, secondary forests, mangrove forests, spread to an altitude of 1,000 m above sea level. Male bird: black upper body. Female bird: more brown, black striped throughout the chest. Brown iris, gray beak and black tip, black legs. Somewhat shy, often hiding in the shade. Look for insects among the leaves of trees. Fly from tree to tree with slow waves. Sometimes down to the ground. Live alone, in pairs, or in small groups.
