People have a certain flair to play with fire. They like playing with it so much that scholars of the Roman Empire (Byzantium) have developed a sticky and nearly impossible to put out flammable mixture (which had a reputation that spread like... Well... Like fire) made it as soon as in the Middle Ages. They have also introduced to the world their invention, the flame thrower. For the next hundreds of years many battlefields witnessed the armored soldiers wielding weapons that were to come back to grace at the beginning of XXth century.
