Description: Policemen = Five-O = Pigs. This derogatory term “pigs” for cops became a street slang around the 60’s by anti-war movements protesting againts the Vietnam War. The first reference to it in the press was on February 18, 1965 in the New York Times in an article describing the signs carried by the anti-war march. The term became widely known worldwide and part of the venacular or slang of American English and remains popular today due to cases of police brutality and corruption of the police force across the globe.
