Starbirth region NGC 3324. Hubble Space Telescope (HST) image of the edge of a nebula in the starbirth region NGC 3324. This is a region where nebulae (dust and gas clouds) glow under the impact of radiation from newly formed stars. The colours indicate three chemical elements: red shows emission from sulphur, green from hydrogen, and blue from oxygen. NGC 3324 is located in the constellation of Carina and is around 7200 light years from Earth. The area seen here is around 13.4 light years across. This image was obtained in 2006 and 2008, using HST's Wide Field Planetary Camera 2 (WFPC2) and the Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS).

I know that frequently Wildlife Photographers harper on about how they spent oh so much time just waiting for that oh so incredible shot... and I can certainly empathise with them... especially when its bloody freezing cold with bitingly cold winds racing straight off the snow and right across to where the cameraman is sitting patiently awaiting that oh so precious shot... Well, actually this is one of those times... and I'm still not sure whether the original in harsh more colourful light is the better shot of the two... anyhow I have decided to tone the image down and although the cast isn't exactly quite natural ~ it does address the intense irradiance that was reflecting off these Canada Geese... I was more after and awaiting the mov...

This is an image of one of those hundreds of hills seen when driving for days along the central, north-central, mid-central, and eastern parts of the State of Oregon. These hills come in a variety of shapes, colours, geological eras, types, etc. You name it. What a feast for the eyes to travel through those parts of Oregon. This image was taken particularly along the drive from the Town of Mitchel (close to the area of the Painted Hills) towards Smith Rock and the John Day Fossil Bed National Monument. All images are taken with a Canon 5D III (full frame) and a Canon 7D II (crop frame) using a variety of Canon L-Series lenses, and Tamron and Sigma pro-line lenses; processed in RAW with ACR, PSC, Photomatix, and a variety of other ...

Appropriately named, this is one of the many fragile rock formations in the Valley Of Fire. This is how it looked in March of 2010. No doubt it's eroded a bit since then.

This is an image of one of those hundreds of hills seen from Chanticleer Point right along the Columbia River Gorge in the State of Oregon. What a beauty of an area; definitely worth stopping every few minutes to absorb nature and take it all in with your eyes (and with a camera of course).
