The design is based on the game Dungeons & Dragons. The oni is a Japanese demon hence the play on words in the title 'Oni(only) the Brave Venture Here'.
Description: In most Dungeons & Dragons campaigns the kobold has long been an underdog race of industrious but expendable workers, even with their own kind. They are makers of vicious traps and usually more clever than wise and more sneaky than brave, the kobold is rarely mourned upon its demise.
