Description: Vintage the Great Garloo. The Great Garloo was a towering green toy monster from 1961, created by the Marx toy company, and controlled by a battery-powered remote. Standing two feet tall and rocking a leopard-print loincloth, Garloo could walk, bend, turn, and grab objects with his articulated arms. Marketed as both fearsome and friendly, he was part caveman, part creature-from-the-deep, and all spectacle. Kids in the '60s were mesmerized by his size and movement—he was a living room kaiju with a price tag of $17.98 (about $180 today).
