The beach at Pondamos Bay, a 10 -15 minute walk from the village of Nimborio, the only settlement on the Greek Island of Halki (Chalki). Pondamos has a small sandy beach, with warm, shallow waters. Here you will find Nik's Taverna where you can enjoy lunch. Halki is a small, charming island, part of the Dodecanese Group of Greek islands, situated opposite the west coast of the Island of Rhodes. The view from high on the Tarpon Springs Boulevard (the only real road on the island of Halki, Greece). The closest body of water is Pondamos Bay which has the only sandy beach on the Island. Beyond Pondamos (in the centre of the shot) is the Halki cemetery church, Ags. Soulas. On the hill above the church you can see the three ruined windmills that stand guard above the village of Nimborio (the only settlement on the Island). On the left of the shot is Nimborio Village and its lovely bay. Halki is a small, very charming island, part of the Dodecanese Group of Greek islands, situated opposite the west coast of the Island of Rhodes.

An early morning view across the village of Nimborio on the Greek Island of Halki. The sun had just risen behind me and the mountain was glowing in the early morning light. In the centre of the shot is the broken clock tower. The residents of Tarpon Springs, Florida, USA (descendants of Halki sponge divers who were forced to relocate when the sponge diving around Halki became unprofitable) endowed Halki with money for the stone clock tower. Halki is a small yet very charming island in the Dodecanese that is situated opposite the west coast of Rhodes. Three bracketed JPGs converted to HDR in Dynamic-Photo HDR.

Gardlyloo. (gär' dè lòò'). interj. (a cry formerly used in Scotland to warn pedestrians when slops were about to be thrown from an upstairs window.) Firá, the capitol of Santorini sits on top of, and hangs precariously at the edge of, steep cliffs, 300 m (984 ft) above the level of the sea. “Firá”, is actually a different pronunciation of “Thíra”, the ancient name of the island itself. in this view you can see both ways of getting up and down to the dock. The string of cable cars on the way down can be seen passing the other string on the way up. If you feel fit enough, you can use the zig-zag path from bottom to top. You can walk or you can ride one of the ponies which carry tourists up and down the cliff path from the dock at the base of the cliff. To give you an idea of scale, there are 12 cable cars, 6 going up and 6 going down. Each car hold 6 passengers.

Found this little church when walking South from Kardamaina, on the small Greek island of Kos. Since our visit in September 2001, this area has been developed into the Aegean Village Hotel Resort. Kos sits in the middle of the Dodecanese Chain of Greek Islands.
