Zebra Doves are native to the Malay Peninsula and can be found in Myanmar, Sumatra and Java. In Hawaiʻi they were firts spotted in 1922 on Oʻahu.

The rose-ringed parakeet is native to Africa and South Asia but was introduced to many other parts of the world as a pet. In Hawai’i it exists since the late 1960s.

The ‘Āhinahina is a plant of the daisy family. It is found on the Haleakalā Volcano on East Maui.

The Kiwikiu or Maui Parrotbill is a Hawaiian honeycreeper. They are typically found foraging on branches of native plants like ʻōhiʻa, ‘ākala, koa, ‘ōlapa, pilo, and kanawao.

The yellow-fronted canary was introduced to Hawaiʻi from Africa in the 1960s. Today they are found on Oʻahu and the Big Island.

Lāʻie Point is a beautiful lookout on the windward coast of Oahu. On the left hand side is an offshore sea arch which is a seabird sanctuary. My print shows the right hand side, looking into the direction of Kaneohe Bay. There is a legend of Lāʻie Point in which this land was called Laniloa and it was once a "Mo'o", a giant Lizard.

The ‘Apapane is a Hawaiian honeycreeper. They find their food in the canopies of the ‘ōhi’a trees. They’re drinking the nectar from the flowers while pollinating them at the same time.

The ʻAkekeʻe is a Hawaiian honeycreeper only found on the island of Kauaʻi. It has a crossbill to pry open ōhiʻa buds in search for little spiders or caterpillars to eat....Like many native Hawaiian birds it is a highly endangered species.

The Java sparrow was introduced to Hawai’i in the 1960s on O’ahu and they spread very fast to the other Hawaiian islands....

The common waxbill or St Helena waxbill is a small passerine native to Africa. It was introduced to Hawai’i in the late 1970s and is only found on O’ahu.

You can find two kinds of octopus in Hawaiʻi, the day octopus and the night octopus. Often they are called “squid”. The Hawaiian name is Heʻe.

I’m always fascinated by how it rains here in Hawai’i. Every cloud does its own thing it seems. One minute it’s pouring the next it’s all gone.

The ʻUaʻu also Hawaiian Petrel is a seabird that is endemic to Hawaiʻi. It is an endangered species. The name ʻUaʻu comes from its call “oo ah oo” which can be heard after sunset near their nests.

Noio are an endemic subspecies of the black noddy or black tern. You can find them throughout the Hawaiian Archipelago.
