This was taken from the 6th floor terrace at the Newseum, on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, DC. The U.S. Capital Dome is under renovation, hence the scaffolding. The Canadian Embassy building is a beautiful white structure, symbolic of our great neighbor to the North. Did a little work in Lightroom and hope the added vignette is pleasing. Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield Littleton, Colorado Leica D-LUX 6

This adobe building in central Santa Fe, New mexico was built ca. 1618 (newer historical evidence has called a 1610 date into question) and was the site of the governors' administrations until 1910. While he was territorial governor in the late 1870s, Lew Wallace completed writing Ben Hur in this building. I thought converting the color to sepia gave it a better Southwest feel. Leica D-LUX 6

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa in Bernalillo, New Mexico for a few nights in late April. The first evening we ate on one of their patios, next to this delightful fireplace. It was chilly and the fire was appreciated!

This is a work by the Albuquerque artist Beverley Magennis (b. 1942) in the Albuquerque Museum. In ceramic and ceramic tile, it reflects her fusion of the aesthetic with the material -- she has done works of art for the city and has tiled her entire home exterior, as well as landscaping her yard with ceramic tile works (the tile for many of which was unused tiles donated by local contractors). One of the great things i have learned from my fellow photographers is how to look at things from all angles. This is an office building along 355 in Rockville, Maryland, a few blocks from where I work. I posted another shot I took that morning as well (link below) but the take-home lesson is look and think about what you see. This one was color and repetition in a reflection, but I think it makes a good urban abstract. Other pedestrians just hurried past - my walk to work takes longer, now. Leica D-Lux 6
