Neskowin, Oregon is a little known town located just north of Lincoln City. It was originally referred to by local natives as Nestugga (or Nestucca) called "Woods," the area was eventually abandoned. Neskowin as it became known means plenty of fish; reports in the early 20th century note that the waters were black because of the abundance. Settlers eventually came in 1886, when a sailing vessel filled with wheat and lumber ran aground. It remains to this day a quiet spot on the coast, largely unchanged since the early 70's. This design is influenced by times gone by.

The Washington Lumberjacks was a WBA Basketball team based in the Tri-Cities region (Kennewick, Pasco & Richland) of Washington state. The Western Basketball Association was a one-year effort to create a Western counterpart & competitor to the country’s top minor basketball league, the Pennsylvania-based Continental Basketball Association (CBA). The WBA began play in the fall of 1978 with seven teams in Arizona, California, Montana, Nevada, Utah and Washington. All of the WBA franchises, including the Lumberjacks, folded during the summer of 1979.

The Portland Mavericks were an independent professional baseball team based in Portland, Oregon. They began play in the short-season Class A Northwest League in 1973, after the Portland Beavers of the Pacific Coast League left after the 1972 season and became the Spokane Indians. The Mavericks operated as an independent club in Portland for five seasons, until the return of the PCL in 1978, and played home games on artificial turf at Civic Stadium in Portland.
