Plan 9 From Outer Space

Plan 9 from Outer Space is a 1957 American independent science fiction-horror film produced, written, directed, and edited by cult cinema icon Ed Wood. The film was shot in black-and-white in November 1956 (under the shooting title Grave Robbers from Outer Space) and premiered on March 15, 1957 at the Carlton Theatre in Los Angeles. Re-titled Plan 9 from Outer Space, it went into general release in April 1959 in Texas and several other Southern states before being sold to television in 1961. Plan 9 From Outer Space is generally considered to be "the worst movie ever made".

Utilizing a one of my collage pieces of men's hats as flying saucers, I thought it'd fit perfectly with Mr. Wood.

Vampira was everywhere for about 15 minutes in the 1950s. Then she challenged the might of ABC television and was crushed under corporate foot. A statuesque, blond Teutonic goddess, Vampira (born Maila Nurmi) preferred to run with the weirdos, turning horror costuming into fashion and setting the stage for goth. Nurmi would have turned 100 years old on Dec. 11, 2022. Her birthday was marked with events around Los Angeles, including a gathering at Hollywood Forever and screenings of Plan 9 from Outer Space and Ed Wood at the American Cinematheque. This is the poster I created to promote the various birthday events.

Tor Johnson, wrestler and star of tons of B movies (Ed Wood and More), died in 1971 and he's still a better choice than most. Plan for 9 long months of the political season with this great design .
