I discovered this scenic rural church while traveling the backroads of Prince Edward Island. The white church stood out like a beacon in the middle of the surrounding potato fields. This is the Free Church of Scotland in DeSable, Prince Edward Island Canada. This is a rural maritime church built in the meeting house style with New England architectural influences. The current church was built in 1855 by Silas MacFarlane . A landmark in the area, the church is a symbol of the province's early Scottish settlement. I thought I was viewing a movie set when I came across this while exploring Prince Edward Island. Gillis' Drive In Restaurant is one of the last car hops service in Canada. It is located in the community of Montague, within the Town of Three Rivers, Kings County PEI. This 60's style drive-in had a lot of character and a great opportunity to create a story of nostalgia So I returned the next day at daybreak to photograph the the site to create this watercolour. Just as the sun peaked over the sign I got the final shot! It's not every day I come across an opportunity to photograph a scene that speaks of days gone by. I thought I was viewing a movie set when I came across this 60's style drive-in while exploring Prince Edward Island. Gillis' Drive In Restaurant is one of the last car hops service in Canada. It is located in the community of Montague, within the Town of Three Rivers, Kings County PEI. It had a lot of character and a great opportunity to create a story of nostalgia. Unfortunately at the time, there were a lot of modern day cars parked that didn't fit the theme of what I wanted to capture. What to do? So I returned the next day before daybreak and yes the lot was empty! However the sun coming up directly behind and silhouetting the drive-in itself! This wasn't working! Including the road sign completed the story in this image. There are many crossroads located in PEI that have retained their historic name from early settlement times. Canoe Cove is one of them. The Canoe Cove School was built in approximately the year 1850. School consolidation swept the Island in the 1960s, and small schools, including Canoe Cove, were put out to pasture. Happy Canada Day Eh Gift

The Japanese practice of shinrin yoku, or Forest Bathing, is good for both physical and mental wellbeing. A two-hour forest bath will help you to unplug from technology and slow down. It will bring you into the present moment and de-stress and relax. Getting outdoors for a hike and nature walk can be enjoyable and relaxing. Spending time in nature is good for your health, are a great recreational activity. This boardwalk is along the Winter River Trail in Prince Edward Island, Canada.

I discovered this small historic church in the rural community of Uigg (pronounced U-igg) during my travels of Prince Edward Island, Canada. The elegant simplicity of the Uigg Baptist Church is a testament to the Scottish pioneers who settled the area in 1829, coming from their home in Uig, Isle of Skye. Constructed in 1874, it has the original clapboard siding, with sets of 3 Gothic Revival windows complete with glazing bars and original glass on each side. It is registered as a Historic Place, in the province of Prince Edward Island.
