Description: Created by pharmacist Charles Elmer Hires in 1876, Hires Root Beer is considered the first commercially successful root beer. Introduced as a "root tea" at the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial Exposition, it was marketed as a wholesome, natural, non-alcoholic beverage. Hires revolutionized the industry with powdered extract kits for home brewing and aggressive national advertising, quickly becoming a household name. Despite being widely popular, Hires eventually faded from mainstream shelves due to years of corporate consolidation, leaving behind a legacy as an American soda that was popular both in root beer floats and on its own. This design is based on the 1974 rebrand that gave the root beer labels a more modern look.
Description: Hot Rod is a 1979 American made-for-television movie about a drag-racer who enters the Munn's Root Beer Nationals at the Bayland drag strip in Freemont, California. However, he runs up against the town boss, a corrupt sheriff who has made arrangements to ensure that his own son wins the race. Every competitor who doesn't run a Munn's decal on their car is harassed by the cops, but in the end, the underdogs turn the tables.
Description: A&W Root Beer is an American brand of root beer that was founded in 1919 by Roy W. Allen and primarily available in the United States and Canada. Allen partnered with Frank Wright in 1922, creating the A&W brand and inspiring a chain of A&W Restaurants founded that year. Originally, A&W Root Beer sold for five cents (equivalent to $0.88 in 2023). The rights to the A&W brand (except in Canada) are owned by Keurig Dr Pepper, which in turn licenses the brand to the U.S.-based A&W Restaurant chain. A&W Root Beer products are distributed via various U.S. bottlers.
Description: RC Cola (short for Royal Crown Cola) is a cola-flavored carbonated beverage owned in the United States by Keurig Dr Pepper and internationally by RC Global Beverages, Inc. Royal Crown Ginger Ale was the first product of the RC line. RC Cola went through various name changes including Chero-Cola and Nehi, Inc. before becoming Royal Crown after the death of Claud A. Hatcher. More flavors were introduced under the RC Cola name including lemon, strawberry, and cane sugar. In the 1950s, Royal Crown company was leading the beverage industry to sell the first canned soft drinks, followed by the first caffeine-free cola. In 1958, RC Cola became available in 16 ounce bottles.
