I did a little trip to the Southern Highlands of New South Wales (Australia) & discovered all these amazing old buildings & country churches in Bowral & Berrima. This is the Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Berrima. Designed by Edmund Blacket in a simple Gothic Revival Style, the church is built from stone quarried directly behind it. The stained glass windows came from a church in Cornwall in England and are thought to date to the 15th Century. It was consecrated in 1849. The interior is especially fine with excellent stained flass, wooden fittings, and old brass oil lamps converted to electricity. *Feature* Canon DSLR, Aug 2016.

The area below the rim of Bryce Canyon National Park is a fantasyland of strange and wonderful geologic formations. Stone spires and pinnacles with fanciful names like the “Chinese Wall” and “Seal Castle” surround the trails, making them delightful places to hike. The Fairyland Loop Trail provides a particularly fine opportunity to examine some of these natural sculptures and, as it is somewhat of the beaten path, it is not as crowded as other trails in the park. The stone sculptures of Bryce Canyon, whimsically called “hoodoos”, have been eroded from a thick layer of soft sedimentary rock called the Claron Formation that was deposited in Utah some 60 million years ago. Emerging from the deep canyon called the Siq into the ancient city of Petra, we are suddenly confronted by this amazing building called The Treasury carved out of the red sandsone. 40m high and decorated with Corinthian columns, its actual purpose is unknown though the discovery of a graveyard suggests it might well have been a temple. This image has been finished as a coloured pencil sketch.
