Wading Posters and Art Prints

Many of the trails I frequent follow along rivers and streams. I was able to capture a Great Blue Heron in a standing wetland area. This is a typical habitat stance of a Great Blue Heron wading in the water hunting for food. I once had had a Great Blue Heron come to my backyard to take fish from my fish pond. Easy hunting! They are surprisingly much taller when you see them up close standing on land! This will be a great addition as a note book available in the stationery prints. This is my original artwork of a great blue heron, the largest North American heron, as it soars over the sand dunes of Cumberland Island, Georgia.The primary food for the great blue heron is fish - which they usually swallow whole. Their wing span is between 5 and 6 feet.

Canon Rebel T3i The ring-billed gull is a medium-sized (19 inches long) gull, and in adult plumage it has a light gray back and wings on a pure white body. Its wing tips are black with white spots, and it has a black ring near the end of its yellow bill. Males and females look alike. Young ring-billed gulls take three years to mature, during which time their bodies and wings are varying shades of mottled brown and gray, with a white tail that has a prominent, black terminal band. These gulls are smaller, lighter, and more graceful-looking than similarly patterned herring gulls, and they have a more buoyant appearance in flight. Coastal North Carolina USA. A great egret returning to it's nest with some new nesting material.I watched this Egret stealing nesting material from an empty Spoonbills nest and taking it back for it's own during a recent trip to Florida. The original photo was taken against a bland white sky, so I added an early morning sunrise sky and blended the images together in Topaz an Photoshop cc.

Finding this Great Egret in the winter grass in the reeds fronting a Langley farm on December 31, 2018, was a great way to wrap up the year. My subject was neither disturbed by the trio of photographers capturing its every move, nor by the traffic roaring down the 2-lane road, and in fact, ventured to with 15 feet of me to feed. Whatever caused this migratory heron (which is a rarity in Metro Vancouver) to spend its decidedly non-tropical vacation here instead of at its regular winter stomping grounds in Miami, Mexico, and Guatemala is a mystery -- but one that I am very grateful for.
