Rutherglen Merch

Rutherglen Old Parish Church, with the Kirk Port built in 1663 (the archway entrance). The present church was designed by the architect J J Burnet 1902 in Gothic style, this is the fourth church built on this site since the original foundation in the 6th century. The gable end of an 11th-century church still stands in the graveyard supporting St Mary’s steeple (15th century). It contains the church bell dated 1635. It has stained glass including a First World War Memorial. Communion cups dated 1665 are still in use.

Rutherglen Town Hall was designed by Charles Wilson in the Scottish baronial style and completed in 1862. It's an A listed building situated in Main Street with a mediaeval churchyard and clock tower next door.
