This is an image of a section of the citadel wall in Villefranche-sur-Mer, on the south coast of France. The sky beyond had a sense of storminess about it and yet this structure at a corner of the citadel wall was bathed in strong sunlight and deep shadows. The wonderful multicoloured roof and palm trees completed the image.

This is a view of one of the deep turquoise pools in the Midway Geyser Basin in Yellowstone National Park. The extraordinary, desolate landscape, is dotted with richly coloured geyser pools, which are in turn ringed with orange-stained rock. In the distance, the omnipresent lodge pole pines complete the amazing spectrum of colours.

It's time to be needlessly hostile, but in a friendly way!

We were about to attend a wedding, staying in a lake house, on Lake Lancer, Michigan, when I noticed the stillness of the lake and the cloud mottled sky, which together made for an almost perfect reflection of the sky. Not one to miss an opportunity to capture an idyllic scene, I quickly found my camera to capture this lovely scene.

This is an image of the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens, In 1896 the Olympics were reborn with the first games being held here. Things have changed, you'll notice that the turns in the track are much tighter than athletes would expect today, maybe modern athletes are faster, and the seats are all carved from marble. In fact, the entire stadium is built from marble, even the then-king of Greece and his queen had marble thrones from which to view the spectacle. I know they were marble because we sat in them, so I do hope they had cushions. Events are still held here, such as a basketball game that holds the world record for the largest crowd. It is big. This is an image of beautiful Lake Louise, in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada. The lake gets its stunning colour from the rock flour suspended in the water. Fed by the meltwater from the glaciers above, as they very slowly grind their way downhill, the rock particles accumulate in the lake. I first went there in 1958 with my parents, at which time the glacier was far more extensive, and again in 1988 when the glacier had clearly diminished in size. This image was captured yet later in 2013, at which time the lower reaches of the glacier had gone.

On a road trip to Denver from Ontario, we had tired of driving the I80 and took a little-used, parallel route through Nebraska and on into Colorado, The road was fascinating as it took us through so many small towns, all of which had an intimate connection with the railway. It is that that I wanted to capture with this image of the silo next to the tracks and the Union Pacific freight train rumbling by. If I remember correctly, this is the silo in a town called Roscoe in Nebraska. The day was dreary, but the dramatic clouds did make a great backdrop to the scene.

I love tropical leaves and bold colors. I couldn't resist making a pattern with my vector Elephant ears and Monstera with a happy and child-like color palette.

Not far from our cottage is the Naftel's Creek Conservation Area, which is a wonderful place to walk among the broad variety of trees. There's one stretch of the walk where the ground beneath tends to be a bit damp so there's a thoughtfully constructed boardwalk to save one from the soggy ground beneath. The walkway is anything but straight; the thought that the shortest route between two points is a straight line doesn't seem to have been a consideration. And why should it be when there's a lovely forest to explore?

We hired a long-tailed boat and captain for a day and visited some of the islands in the Andaman Sea near Ao Nang in Thailand. Our captain took us to Railay Beach, a very popular tourist spot, where towering karst formation cliffs dominate the warm waters and white sand beach. This image captures, for me, the essence of that day, the long-tailed boat we hired, and one of the magnificent karst towers that dot the seascape. The sky was dark blue, the sea rich in shades of aquamarine and a hint of the white sand below. I loved the way the boat bobbed on the surface of the shallow calm water, where the clarity was such that the boat was seemingly floating above the surface. Very cool and delightfully warm.

We were walking the Sentiero Azzurro, the path that leads to Vernazza from Corniglia in the Cinque Terre region of Italy when we came upon this lovely stone wall with an equally lovely stone doorway. It really didn't look as if it was in regular use anymore as the vegetation beyond was overgrown but that was its charm.

Inside the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal at the ROM is this wonderful staircase. In preparing this image, I've used a vector image styling the reflects the geometric shapes in the staircase. I hope you enjoy this image as much I do.

I was on a tour of the wineries below the Niagara Escarpment. This image depicts the roof of one of those wineries. I was really taken with the whimsical placement of all the windows, so out came my camera.

So what is this? We were touring Cinque Terre National Park, on the Italian Riviera, when we visited the village of Manorolo. We looked inside a lovely church where a wedding had just finished. I was really taken with the decorations that had been placed there for the ceremony. This is an image of a ribbon tied around one of the columns in the church. It was just so lovely, I couldn't ignore it.
