Description: Eureka Downs was an American horse racing track located near U.S. Route 54 in Eureka, Greenwood County, Kansas. The facility hosted Standardbred harness racing, American Quarter Horse, and Thoroughbred flat racing events. The track was originally built nearby in 1872, but relocated to the present location in 1902. It opened for its first season of racing in 1903, with Thoroughbred and harness racing until 1942 when the track closed for two years due to the outbreak of World War II. Racing resumed in 1945. In 1962, land was purchased adjacent to Eureka Downs to extend the track and build a 440-yard straightaway section to run American Quarter Horse races. The track also held Greyhound racing events on certain days.

Description: The original company that made Johnson inboard motors and outboard motors was the Johnson Brothers Motor Company of Terre Haute, Indiana. They started building inboard 2-cycle marine engines in 1903 in a barn behind the house, along with matching boats. By 1908, they were making V4, V6, V8, and V12 aircraft and marine engines. In 1910, they built the first U.S. monoplane to exhibit their aircraft engines. Starting in 1922, they designed and built a radical new, lightweight outboard made largely of aluminum. By the mid-1920s, they were dominating the outboard racing scene, and continued to innovate and produce amazingly powerful and reliable outboards. The company was acquired by Outboard Marine Corporation (OMC) in 1935

Description: The New York Highlanders' 1903 season was the team's first. The team was founded as a replacement in the American League for the defunct Baltimore Orioles, was managed by Clark Griffith and played its home games at Hilltop Park (formally "American League Park"). The club was at first officially the "Greater New York" baseball club, in deference to the established New York Giants, which were based in the Polo Grounds. This was the first season for the franchise that would be later known as the now-storied New York Yankees. They finished in 4th place in the AL with a record of 72–62.
