Celts Shorts
Description: The Order of Ancient Celts is a fraternal organization in Atlantic City, New Jersey for Irish Americans. The membership includes powerful figures in local and state politics. The Order marks St. Patrick's Day (March 17) with a raucous dinner. Members wear a sash in the colors of the Irish flag at official functions. In 1919 the dinner featured an address by the Attorney General. In 1920 the dinner is brought to an early close when it is raided by prohibition agents. ("Nights in Ballygran")
Description: This is an artistic rendition of a clan of Celtic warriors on the march to battle! I leave it open to interpretation what tribe of Celts these guys are. They could be Gauls or Britons on the march to kick some Roman butt. They could be Picts on the march to battle with invading Saxons. They could be Gaels looking to put down a rival clan. Regardless of how you see it, the ogham inscription at the center sews a common thread among all interpretations. It reads, “VICTORY!”
Description: Celtic knots symbolize the cyclical nature and interconnectedness of all things in life. They are often used to represent unbreakable bonds of love, friendship, and protection. This one in particular in green serpents emphasizes the eternal flame and faith of the first peoples of northern France and the British Isles and their modern day descendants.
