Description: Charles (CM) Russell, the “cowboy artist”, created more than 2,000 paintings of cowboys, Indians, and landscapes set in the Western United States. He lived and worked among the cowboys and the Blood Indian tribe in his younger years. This painting is called “Buffalo Coat” and depicts an Indian man standing against a wooden palisade in a fort holding a rifle and wearing native garb.
