Description: The Newport Colts were a minor league baseball team based in Newport, Rhode Island from 1897 and to 1899. The Newport Colts teams played as members of the New England League, winning the league championship in 1897 and a spilt–season pennant in 1899. The Newport Ponies succeeded the Colts in minor league play, becoming members of the short–lived 1908 Atlantic Association. Newport teams reportedly played home minor league games at Cardines Field, built in 1893 and still in use today.

Description: The Colt .45s started their inaugural season on April 10, 1962, against the Chicago Cubs with Harry Craft as the Colt .45s' manager. Bob Aspromonte scored the first run for the Colt .45s on an Al Spangler triple in the first inning. They started the season with a three-game sweep of the Cubs but eventually finished eighth among the National League's ten teams. The team's best pitcher, Richard "Turk" Farrell, lost 20 games despite an ERA of 3.02. A starter for the Colt .45s, Farrell was primarily a relief pitcher prior to playing for Houston. He was selected to both All-Star Games in 1962.
Description: Adrian Constantine Anson, nicknamed "Cap" and "Pop", was an American Major League Baseball first baseman. Including his time in the National Association, he played a record 27 consecutive seasons. Anson was regarded as one of the greatest players of his era and one of the first superstars of the game.
