Confidential Shorts
Description: Keyser Söze (/ˈkaɪzər ˈsoʊzeɪ/ KY-zər SOH-zay) is a fictional character and the main antagonist in the 1995 film The Usual Suspects, written by Christopher McQuarrie and directed by Bryan Singer. According to petty con artist Roger "Verbal" Kint (Kevin Spacey), Söze is a crime lord whose ruthlessness and influence have acquired a legendary, even mythical, status among police and criminals alike. Further events in the story make these accounts unreliable; in a twist ending, a police sketch identifies Kint and Söze as one and the same. The character was inspired by real life murderer John List and the spy thriller No Way Out, which featured a shadowy KGB mole who may or may not actually exist.

A distinctive piece for James Ellroy readers, fans of the 1997 movie, noir cinema, crime fiction and classic Los Angeles stories.
Description: the Hollywood Center Motel is a historic and somewhat infamous property located at 6720 Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. Originally built in the early 1900s as a Queen Anne-style home named "El Nido" by William and Sarah Avery, the property was transformed over the decades into a 23-unit motel. In 1922, a 13-unit bungalow court was added, and by the 1950s, it operated as the Hollywood Center Motel, offering amenities like a "super heated pool" and continental breakfast. The motel has a storied past, featured in films and TV shows such as L.A. Confidential, The Rockford Files, and the 1972 film Hit Man. However, it gained notoriety for its seedy reputation, including a 1963 armed robbery and a 1986 murder linked to the Billionaire Boys Club

Description: Generally considered one of the greatest movies of the seventies and arguably the greatest private eye flick ever made (the only other contender is John Huston's The Maltese Falcon) 1974's Chinatown, which unleashed the character of Los Angeles gumshoe J.J. "JAKE" GITTES upon the world, is a superb private eye mystery and modern-day film noir thriller.
