Description: Karlsberg is one of the largest breweries in Germany; the Karlsberg Group also owns various other beer brands. It is called Karlsbräu outside of Germany to differentiate it from the Danish brewing company Carlsberg. Established 1878 in the town of Homburg, Saarland (then part of Bavaria), the brewery was named after the nearby hill and castle. Karlsberg's ownership has been handed down through generations. The current owner, Richard Weber, is the great-grandson of the brewery's founder.
Description: Hasseröder is a brewery in Wernigerode, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The company started in 1872, founded by Robert Hoppe under the name zum Auerhahn ("the Capercaillie"), in the Wernigerode district of Hasserode. In 1882 Ernst Schreyer assumed control of the brewery. The Brauhaus Riegele was created in 1884, when Sebastian Riegele Sr. acquired the brewery "Zum Goldenen Ross", which originated in 1386. Its products are beers of the brands Spaten and Franziskaner. In 1397, the Welser Prew was alluded to for the first time in Munich. Most Löwenbräu beers are marketed as being brewed according to the Reinheitsgebot, the Bavarian beer purity regulation of 1516. Löwenbräu claims to have been founded around 1383. In 1524, Jörg Schnaitter, a pierprew (beer brewer), is mentioned in connection with the property at the address 17 Löwengrube. The brewery was first mentioned in 1746 in the Munich tax records.
Description: The Augustiner Brewery was first mentioned by name in 1328, established within an Augustianian Monastery which had been settled just outside the Munich city walls in an area called Haberfeld (or Haferfeld – "oat field") in 1294.
