Description: The Vampire Lovers is a 1970 British Gothic horror film based on the 1872 Sheridan Le Fanu novella 'Carmilla.' It is the first film in the Karnstein Trilogy, the other two films being Lust for a Vampire (1971) and Twins of Evil (1971). The three films were somewhat daring for the time in explicitly depicting lesbian themes. The story follows a sultry vampiress who bewitches and preys upon the blood of young virgins in order to prolong her unnatural life. The film plays with the well-known vampire myths and crafts an impressively mounted gothic horror production while still making ample time to highlight ample fleshy bits and gore.
Description: Night of the Creeps is a 1986 science fiction horror comedy that is both an earnest attempt at creating a B movie, and an homage to the genre. The movie did not perform well at the box office, but developed a solid cult following though video rentals. The film's story begins in 1959 as an alien experiment crashes to earth and infects a fraternity member. They freeze the body, but in the modern day, two geeks pledging a fraternity accidentally thaw the corpse, which proceeds to infect the campus with parasites that transform their hosts into killer zombies. The design features Detective Ray Cameron, who comically over uses his catchphrase, 'thrill me' throughout the movie.
Description: Night of the Living Dead is a 1968 independent horror film that follows seven people who are trapped in a rural farmhouse in western Pennsylvania, which is under assault by an enlarging group of cannibalistic, undead ghouls. Frequently identified as the first modern zombie film and a touchstone in the development of the horror genre. Scholarly analysis has focused on its reflection of the social and cultural changes in the United States during the 1960s, with particular attention directed towards the casting of Jones, an African-American, in the leading role. In 1999, the film was deemed “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” by the Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry.
Description: Re-Animator is a 1985 comedy horror film loosely based on the 1922 H. P. Lovecraft serial novelette "Herbert West–Reanimator." Herbert West is a medical student who has invented a reagent which can re-animate deceased bodies. He and his classmate Dan Cain begin to test the serum on dead human bodies, and conflict with Dr. Carl Hill, who is infatuated with Cain's fiancée and wants to claim the invention as his own. Re-Animator was followed by two sequels: Bride of Re-Animator in 1990, and Beyond Re-Animator in 2003.
Description: The Thing is a 1982 American science fiction horror film directed by John Carpenter from a screenplay by Bill Lancaster. Based on the 1938 John W. Campbell Jr. novella Who Goes There?, it tells the story of a group of American researchers in Antarctica who encounter the eponymous "Thing", a parasitic extraterrestrial life-form that assimilates, then imitates, other organisms. Description: Based in the fictional town of Jerusalem's Lot in Maine, Cullen Sawyer Trucking & Hauling was a general cartage firm owned and operated by Cully Sawyer. Serving the greater New England area, Cullen Sawyer's dark green trucks were a familiar sight throughout the region and in the 1979 miniseries adaptation of 'Salem's Lot, was contracted to haul a crated Mr. Barlow into Jerusalem's Lot from Portland, Maine.
