Description: This is my acrylic painting of the overlook of the Colorado river winding around the Horseshoe Bend at the Glen Canyon Recreation area at sunset. This has become one of the most recognized and visited places in the Glen Canyon area. In the distance, the sky transitions from blue to a warm yellow and orange as the sun sets, casting a serene glow over the landscape.
Description: Page, Arizona: History and Hot Rod Culture on the Grand Canyon’s Edge** Perched atop Manson Mesa near Lake Powell, Page was founded in 1957 as a home base for Glen Canyon Dam workers. Originally called Government Camp, the city’s roots run deep—literally and culturally. From its connection to the iconic Horseshoe Bend to the formation of the Horse Shoe Bend Auto Club, Page became a hub for hot rodders who turned desert roads into drag strips. It’s a destination shaped by engineering, horsepower, and community spirit.
