Imaginary Worlds Shorts
Description: Magic: The Gathering has a deep mythology about an infinite number of parallel worlds. As Magic celebrates its 25th anniversary, I look at why this handheld card game has survived the onslaught of competition from digital games, and how the designers at Wizards of the Coast create a sense of story and worldbuilding within a non-sequential card game.
Description: EVE Online is a massive multi-player online role playing game, a galaxy where you build space ships, form alliances and go to war. The war stories of EVE players are remarkable, like the Bloodbath of B-R5RB, where over $350,000 worth of digital spaceships were destroyed in a single day.
Description: Imagine you're a New Yorker in the mid 22nd century. You have to deal with all sorts of headaches like traffic jams on the East River or brownstones collapsing into the canals. People think you're crazy to live in this Super Venice, but you wouldn't want to be anywhere else. That's the world Kim Stanley Robinson imagines in his latest novel New York 2140.
Description: A real estate review for places that don't exist. The tone is that of a cozy hotel guest leaving five stars about a cloud sofa, a bottomless snack table, and a climate that is always seventy-two degrees. The fun is how the reviewer rates make-believe kingdoms like vacation rentals, noting the soft furniture and the absence of loud neighbors. Rent is free, the landlord is also the tenant, and nobody ever complains about the plumbing or taxes. A gentle tease lands on the habit of preferring a pretend realm over a crowded subway, since the daydream offers legroom that public transport can only fantasize about. The mood is calm and almost too relaxed, like a cat filing a report on a sunbeam, and it quietly suggests this brain has lovely decor.
Description: Receive, align, act. Remembering to smile and have fun. Dreaming of (imagining) six impossible things before breakfast. Blowing the sacred conch of alignment blows away any feelings of overwhelm and welcomes the sacred in aligned manifestation, through confident action and trust in our higher mind guidance. Now is the moment. 2026
