Just a picture of Kotobuki was thought to be protection from sickness and disease. This very auspicious chimera is composed of all 12 of the animals of the Asian astrology zodiac; Rat head, rabbit ears, ox horns, rooster comb, goat beard, horse mane, dragon neck, boar back, tiger belly and shoulders, monkey front legs, dog rear legs, and tail of snake.
