Description: The Saddle Rack originally opened on August 13, 1976 as San Jose's only authentic country roadhouse. The Rack, as locals called it, quickly became known for country music, strong drinks, line-dancing, and Tex-Mex cuisine, which turned out to be a winning combination. This quirky joint's Southern-style hospitality was what kept locals coming back, but once they began booking live music, it became a premier country music nightspot that pulled people in from all over the Bay Area and beyond. Sitting on six and a half prime acres, the owner received an offer he couldn't refuse, and sold the property, leading to its closure in 2001. The Rack would return in 2003, reopening in an 18,000-square-foot former hot tub store in Fremont.
