Main Tag:
Description: Liopleurodon is a genus of large, carnivorous marine reptiles that lived during the Late Jurassic period, about 160 to 155 million years ago. They were part of the pliosauroidea superfamily, and were some of the largest predatory marine reptiles of their time, with some species reaching lengths of up to 25 meters (82 ft). Liopleurodon had a short, broad skull, with large, sharp teeth and powerful jaws. They were probably apex predators in their marine environment, hunting and eating other large marine reptiles and fish.
