Description: This design was inspired by 2 Kings 2:23-24 - "From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some boys came out of the town and jeered at him. 'Get out of here, baldy!' they said. 'Get out of here, baldy!' He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the Lord. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the boys." I really had to wrestle with this text. This text is not happy-go-lucky, it's downright horrifying. Yet also, darkly humorous. Here comes one of the most prominent prophets of the Northern Kingdom of Israel (the kingdom had split after Solomon, long story of who should be his heir) and these 'young people' (the text is unclear how old exactly) ...
Description: Albrecht Dürer’s woodcut, “The Four Horsemen,” from 1497, is a striking masterpiece of fine art that captures the essence of the biblical apocalypse. This high-resolution engraving depicts the harrowing story from the Old Testament, where four horsemen represent death, famine, war, and conquest. Dürer’s work is part of his larger series, “Die Apokalypse,” which illustrates the dramatic and divine visions described in the Book of Revelation. In this black and white woodwork the horsemen are shown in vigorous motion their steeds galloping forward with an unstoppable force. The first horseman symbolizes conquest; the second represents war; the third signifies famine; the fourth embodies death. Each figure is rendered with meticulous detail.
Description: I have designed a number of variations using the text of Psalm 8:9. This one features a shorter version of the text: "How majestic is your name". I hand lettered the text using the pen tool in Photoshop. I paired the straight edged serif text with the flowing brush script of the word "Majestic" in order to create contrast. I painted the text with warm earth tones which contrast with the cool bluish background. I designed the background using the polygon tool in Photoshop.

Description: Joshua challenged his people to choose whom they would serve, whether the gods of their ancestors or the Amorites, but he chose for his own household to serve the Lord. I have created several versions of this design, but for this version, I started with the Blackadder ITC font, but redrew it and added the carved, bevel effect to suggest age and the timelessness of this text. I painted the woodgrain texture background in Photoshop, adding an old, rugged cross to tie together the composition.

Description: Psalm 14 is King David's meditation on the human condition, and the moral consequences of rejecting God. I have made multiple versions of this design - this version employs only text with no background. The text is entirely hand-lettered in my own gothic style script. I kept the text plain white (rather than painted with gradations or fancy techniques) to achieve a minimalist aesthetic.
