Retro Paris Shorts
Description: The Catacombs of Paris, situated beneath the city's bustling streets, bear witness to a chilling chapter in history. In the spring of 1780, an extended period of heavy rainfall inundated the overcrowded Les Innocents cemetery, leading to a gruesome spectacle where rotting corpses spilled onto the adjacent property. This horrifying event marked the beginning of a 12-year endeavor to relocate bodies from various cemeteries in Paris to the city's former limestone quarries, eventually populating the underground tunnels with an astonishing 6 million remains. Today, approximately a mile of this subterranean labyrinth is open to visitors, who can embark on guided tours through the eerie passageways and encounter meticulously arranged displays.
