Description: San Clemente is the southernmost suburb of South Orange County. At its core is a charming, Spanish Colonial Revival planned community that would be walkable were there more sidewalks -- which were intentionally left out in areas in order to help keep out riff-raff like me. Description: My continuing series of great surf spots on the USA west coast. Trestles, part of the San Clemente State Beach, is split into five different sections. Lower Trestles, one of the most popular spots, is better-known due to the number of high-profile competitions and contests held there, but all sections are excellent for surfing. Trestles is hailed as one of the best beaches to surf because of the continuous swells, rocky reef and cobblestoned ocean bottom provided by the local watershed, San Mateo Creek, as well as the overall geography along the West Coast.
