Kingdome Seattle 1976 Shorts
Main Tag:

Description: Younger generations and even most transplants probably don't know that there used to be a single stadium where Seattle's CenturyLink Field and T-Mobile Park now sit and they most definitely don't recall the time the entire city crowded around to watch it implode. But it used to be there and it was an epic sight to behold. Yeah, it was arguably ugly, drafty, noisy and probably a bunch of other things too, but the Kingdome was Seattle's stadium. Its name came from the two labels that were floating around during its conception: "King Street Stadium" and the "domed stadium." It opened it's gates in 1976 and was built to last 1,000 years, but barely made it 20 before it began rapidly falling into disrepair being blown up on March 26, 2000.

Seattle Angels Shorts
Main Tag:

Description: The Seattle Angels, originally named the Seattle Indians and also known as the Seattle Rainiers, were a Minor League Baseball team in Seattle, Washington, that played in the Pacific Coast League from 1903 to 1906 and 1919 to 1968. They were initially named for the indigenous Native American population of the Pacific Northwest, and changed their name after being acquired by the Rainier Brewing Company, which was in turn named for nearby Mount Rainier. After a few lean years, the Rainiers won PCL flags in 1951 and 1955, the last pennants won under Sick's ownership. After the 1960 season, the team was sold to the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox in turn sold the Rainiers to the California Angels in 1965, who renamed the team the Seattle Angels.

Aurora Stadium Speedway 1941 Shorts
Main Tag:

Description: In 1940, the owners of Seattle’s Playland Amusement Park decided to build a racetrack where they could host various motorsports events. Calling it Aurora Stadium Speedway, the new 1/4 mile dirt track opened in 1941 and quickly became a popular attraction. Aurora hosted hot rod races one night and midgets on another night, usually Fridays and Saturdays, but as America entered WWII, racing was put on hold at the end of '41. The end of the war saw the boys come home, and racing resumed in '46. Soon, the track would get paved and stock cars were added to the mix. As Seattle's population grew into the once rural area, noise complaints by neighbors coupled with the slow decline of the amusement park led to the track was closing down in '58.

Milwaukee County Stadium • Milwaukee, WI Shorts

Description: Milwaukee County Stadium • Milwaukee, WI: Milwaukee County Stadium was a multi-purpose stadium opened in 1953. It was primarily a baseball park for Major League Baseball's Milwaukee Braves and later the Milwaukee Brewers. If you were lucky, you might've scored a couple Packer tickets back in the day. The National Football League's Green Bay Packers played 2 or 3 home games per year at County Stadium from 1953 to 1994. Hank "The Hammer" Aaron hit his 755th and final home run on July 20, 1976 at County Stadium. Milwaukee County Stadium • Milwaukee, WI © 2022-2026 Grumble Services, LLC • All rights reserved.
