Space Seal Shorts
Description: A cheerful seal floating through outer space in a Soviet-inspired cosmonaut suit marked with CCCP. Combining retro space imagery, surreal humor and an unexpected animal protagonist, this playful artwork turns the classic astronaut into something wonderfully absurd. Perfect for fans of space exploration, vintage sci-fi aesthetics, Soviet-era space imagery and weird animal art.
Description: A resting seal formed through flowing, expressive white ink brushstrokes, featuring a rounded body, gently raised head, and simplified flippers. Long, textured curves and open contours define the animal's recognizable silhouette against dark backgrounds, with generous negative space maintaining a clean minimalist composition. A marine wildlife design for seal lovers, coastal nature enthusiasts, animal admirers, and fans of minimalist expressive ink artwork. Suitable for apparel, accessories, stickers, notebooks, mugs, and home décor.

Inside the ring is a representation of the Earth with a prominent white delta-shaped symbol centered over it. A star with an apex reaching upwards is positioned above the Earth. The year 'MMXIX' is written below the Earth. The color palette is primarily white, blue, and black.

A circular sun or planet is positioned to the right of the cityscape. The outer edge contains concentric rings with alien-like or runic text.

Description: The legend of the Selkie, or Seal Woman, occurs primarily within Northern European folklore, and is most commonly associated with the Scottish tales of seals who shape-shift into women through the shedding of their sealskin. I have long been fascinated by this particular mythological creature, in part because of my love of seals. It was an interesting challenge though, to come up with a way to depict the selkie without it being gruesome and still clearly showing both forms. In the end, I’m pretty pleased with the way it turned out, and with how well the ocean space colors compliment it.
