St Matthias Shorts

Description: Saint Matthias was one of the 12 apostles of Christ. This is his traditional sign and symbol. He replaced Judas Iscariot after the betrayal of Christ. He was martyred while preaching in Jerusalem and was stoned nearly to death and then beheaded by an axe, included on this sign as the instrument of his martyrdom as well as the red field of a martyr. The symbol of the book and the words "Super Mathiam" ("On Mathias") symbolize his preaching. He is the Patron Saint of alcoholics, carpenters, tailors,Great Falls-Billings, Montana; Trier, Germany; smallpox patients; hope; & perseverance

Description: Saint Matthias is most often depicted holding an axe. We are betting he was pretty good at handling and throwing an axe, even though it was the instrument of his death. Say a prayer to St. Matthias before every tournament and he will be with you.
