Starling Shorts
Description: Colour ink illustration and watercolour painting of a superb starling. Superb starlings are a species of glossy starling bird found in Africa. They have a short tail and very distinctive plumage. The feathers on the head are black, with an iridescent body and wings graduating from blue to turquoise to green. Their underside is orange red with a white band dividing the two colours, with a few white areas on the underparts. Their eyes are a bright white grey.
Description: Colourful animal illustration of a Bali starling. This ink drawing was created by hand using pigma micron marker pens. I then added colour with alcohol marker pens. Bali starling, or Bali myna (Leucopsar rothschildi) are a critically endangered species of bird found only on the island of Bali. These small birds are almost white all over with a crest of feathers on their head. The skin around their eye is a vibrant blue and they have a pop of yellow on their bills.
