It is stated by Sean Murray in IGN's 18 Minute Gameplay video that Atlas is a central computer system where all data is stored. Some people think that the Atlas could be what is in the the middle of the No Man's Sky universe. Me? I think it is what makes this game rock as much as Darkside of the Moon.
