Videodrome Tv Shorts
Description: In David Cronenberg's 1983 film, Videodrome, there is a Catholic style inner-city shelter in downtown Toronto called the Cathode Ray Mission. Its purpose is to help what looks like homeless people get reintegrated into normal, everyday working life. But you soon learn that the people go to the mission are not really without homes so much as without televisions. What possible reason could there be for that? In order to patch the "derelicts" back into the world of normalization, they must be treated by exposure to television. So they come to Cathode Ray for their TV "fix" because after all, love comes in at the eye.
Description: 1983 Canadian science fiction body horror film written and directed by David Cronenberg and starring James Woods. Woods is the CEO of a small UHF television station who stumbles upon a broadcast signal featuring violence and torture. The layers of deception and mind-control conspiracy unfold as he uncovers the signal's source, and loses touch with reality in a series of increasingly bizarre hallucinations.
Description: Turn on, tune in, and freak out. It's Civic TV, "The One You Take to Bed with You" - the only channel where you can find Videodrome! So grab the remote, flip over to channel 83 (12 if you're using cable), and repeat after me: "Long Live the New Flesh!" (Also in pin form, here: cameraviscera.bigcartel.com)
