Several thousand years passed before it was excavated (in 1910) and became part of The Met collection (in 1917)

Description: This is an illustration of William the hippopotamus made by me. William is a hippo from the XII dynasty of ancient Egypt. He is currently part of the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Did you know that when he was found he had his legs broken to prevent him from hurting Senbi II (the late owner of the tomb)?
