Description: The Holy City Zoo was a small but influential comedy club in San Francisco that originally opened in 1971. Located at 408 Clement Street between 5th and 6th Avenues in San Francisco's Richmond District, the club was a dark cavern that had a maximum occupancy of 78. There was a small stage set against the back wall, a bar that sold beer, wine, and soft drinks, and a set of stairs at stage left that led to a small balcony known as "The John Wilkes Booth." The club got its peculiar name from a sign the original owner picked up at a going-out-of-business sale for a zoo in Holy City. The Zoo originally opened up as a folk music venue, but after adding a comedy night, comics looking for a venue found the Zoo, crowded out the folk musiic.

Description: The Charleston Charlies were a Triple-A minor league baseball team located in Charleston, West Virginia. The Charlies played in the International League from 1971 to 1983. The team was the relocated Columbus Jets. In 1977 the franchise was returned to Columbus and Charlies owner Robert Lavine purchased the Memphis Blues, moving the team to Charleston, assuming the Charlies name. The Charlies were affiliated with the Pittsburgh Pirates (1971–76), Houston Astros (1977–79), Texas Rangers (1980), and Cleveland Indians (1981–83). Today, the franchise is known as the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.

Originally called the Pittsburgh Pipers, they were a charter franchise of the ABA and captured the first league title. The team played their home games in Pittsburgh's Civic Arena.

Description: The Shreveport Captains (1971–2000) were a professional minor-league baseball team based in Shreveport, Louisiana, in the United States. They were affiliated with the California Angels (1971–72), Milwaukee Brewers (1973–74), Pittsburgh Pirates (1975–78) and San Francisco Giants (1979–2000). The team was later changed to the Shreveport Swamp Dragons (2001–02) and then moved to Frisco, Texas, to become the Frisco RoughRiders.
