The rear track was widened 2.5 inches, and the body was about 2.1 inches longer and 2.4 inches wider than the 1970 Mustangs. The Mach 1's base price of $3,268 included a 302-2V engine, three-speed manual transmission, Competition Suspension, and E70-14 Wide Oval tires. Exterior enhancements consisted of a color-keyed front bumper and fender and hood edge moldings, honeycomb-pattern grille with sport lamps added, non-functional hood scoops and dual color-keyed racing mirrors.
