Description: The 1st Armored Regiment, part of the 1st Armored Division, was one of the first American units to engage in combat in World War II in the North African Campaign. On 8 November 1942, the 1st Armored Regiment landed at St Leu, French Morocco and captured Tafaraoui Airfield later in the day after overrunning a battery of Vichy French guns.
